Another year is just about to dawn and we are contemplating over the events which passed this year. Sorrows, joys, and all in between are all the essence of life, and if we find that this year was perhaps a bit hard on us, then we should use this time just before another to try to comprehend the lessons we learned from the hardship.
I am a firm believer that when an opportunity is lost, somewhere else another arises, and it is up to us to discover and muster the courage to catch them.

But all the new things which we experienced are all experienced within the established order we try to surround ourselves with. Home - away and home again, as the fairy tales say.
On this blog, one of the homely features is my Monthly Favourites where I showcase my imaginary shopping basket filled with all the wonderful clothes every new month brings along.

December is a curious month in this regard; party dresses, winter boots, and spring clothes all in one month! Enough to make your head spin.
It appears that prints and embellishments are key trends next year paired with strict tailoring and colours - and I highly approve!
Despite the overwhelming palette of colours, my two favourites are the Stella McCartney blazer (I really need a white boyfriend fitted one!) and the black lace Valentino stillettoes.
But what are your favourites this month?

A New Era Dawning...

Well, according to some ancient Mayan calendar today is the end of the world - as we know it. So far, it seems people have been more interested in planning their shelters and canned food as if things are getting to be like an H.G. Wells story. I, however, do not think that is what is going to happen. Actually I do not think ANYTHING will have changed at all by tomorrow.

But perhaps in stead of planning to run from the nuclear bombs scenarios we could in stead use the time to stop, rest, and think of the world and the people in it as we know it, and ask ourselves - are we living the lives which we wanted and wished for? Can we make this a better world, a softer, more gentle, and caring world? If we all stopped the madness of greed, vengance, and the lust for power, and started tomorrow morning with applying a gentle and forgiving mind set, wouldn't that be like an apocalypse? A new start.

If today was to be the last day of the old world order, and from tomorrow morning we would actively start, all of us, to make the world a better place and do good to the beings around us - regardless of looks, religion, gender, sexuality, etc. - wouldn't this be worthy of a new time line?

sadly, I doubt anything will happen in either scenarios, but at least I hope people will stop for a second to at least think about the kind of person they are, and then have the courage to choose a gentler way if they don't like what the find. Because, I believe this world needs a little tenderness and a gentle approach if we are ever going to come close to world peace.
I hope tomorrow will the be the first day to actively achieving that goal. At least, I will try to.
__________________________________________________________________________

{Sonnet Sunday} Shakespeare XIX

{my Moleskine}

Oh Sunday, glorious Sunday... Definetely a time for rest as I just uploaded a third of my MA Thesis to my counsellor yesterday and I am quite exhausted. Writing about colonialism and the power and abuse of language is surprisingly tough. It baffles me how indifferent and evil people have been to eachother, and so many of the aspects are even more saddening still issues which we deal with today.

So now I need a day of peace and quiet, sipping tea and perhaps treating myself to a little sweet indulgence from the bakery and pastisserie nearby.
And of course also a little treat for the mind, and even though today is both Jane Austen's AND Beethoven's birthday, I give you Shakespeare.

So enjoy your Sundays, and make sure to take the time to breathe and just listen to everything and nothing at the same time.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

{DIY Fairy Bell Journal}

I just saw this DIY over at a lovely little blog called Ghost Sailors. A fairy bell journal to envoke the presence of fairies because it is said that whenever a little bell chimes, a fairy is near. How lovely is that!?
I will just share two photos from her thorough step-by-step guide to cretaing your own. A definite must for some of my notebooks.

{Tumblr Crush} this is the story of how i died

A little new feature I am starting because there are some really great blogs over at Tumblr which is not just reblogging the same stuff as Pinterest.

First up is this marvelous blog called this is the story of how i died run by Drew. He makes the most amazing fairy tale picspams and you can make requests. He just scours the whole internet for the photos which would create a harmonous homage to a fairy tale and I would love to show you some of his works.
__________________________________________________________________

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe / Løven, heksen og garderobeskabet
 The Nut Cracker / Nøddeknækkeren
The Princess and the Pea / Prinsessen på ærten
The Ugly Duckling / Den grimme ælling
Alice in Wonderland / Alice i Eventyrland

Seriously, are they not amazing? I am baffled, flabbergasted, and the lot over so many of these. The five presented here are small tributes to the season, Hans Christian Andersen, and one of my favourite stories ever. But please visit his blog and check them all out.
________________________________________________________

{Monthly Favourites} November 2012

Monthly favourites November 2012

Miu Miu fitted dress, 13.180 DKK / Gown, 22.010 DKK / Roberto Cavalli beaded evening dress, 7.205 DKK / Roberto Cavalli dress, 5.075 DKK / 3.1 Phillip Lim antique dress, 4.565 DKK / By Malene Birger metallic dress, 2.710 DKK / Raoul striped dress, 2.605 DKK / MICHAEL Michael Kors michael kor, 550 DKK / Dolce&Gabbana crochet jacket, 25.780 DKK / Sass & Bide sheer skirt, 2.410 DKK / Charlotte Olympia platform pumps, 5.005 DKK / Jimmy Choo pumps, 4.565 DKK / Fabi narrow boots, 3.275 DKK / Bow sandals, 3.070 DKK / Chanel shoulder bag, 24.395 DKK / Pamela Love brass jewelry, 3.790 DKK

Ahh, December starting tomorrow! Isn't it grand? All the lights, scents, and hot chocolate to warm you up? I am not a big fan of November, too cold and too boring. Perhaps I would feel differently if I was American and could celebrate Thanksgiving but alas.
Besides my thesis, I had a one-day-trip to Copenhagen with my mother and sister which was great fun. They bought everything, or so it seemed! I restricted myself to a bottle of OPI Black Spotted which somehow was also released in Danish Sephora and not just in France so yay! Other than that I went to the theatre and saw the European premiere of 'Other Desert Cities' which was incredible, and that sums up my month... Not much, huh!?
Good thing I have my Monthly Faves to look forward to, and here they are.
I am particularly fond of the necklace by Pamela Love and the Charlotte Olympia shoes. I actually pinned them in three different colours! And with the Roberto Cavalli dress I would be stopping the traffic, no? probably most out of wonder by the people around me since we had the first snow of the season today here in Aarhus! Oh well, out with the high heels and on with the practical boots and socks.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Advent Wreaths 2012

Some of my most popular posts have been my inspiration posts on Advent wreaths and so this year, I figured I would be a little ahead of time. The first Sunday in Advent will not be until December 2nd but it is nice to have a little time making the wreath and enjoying it before setting it on fire!
No secret, I love candle light and Christmas so even though I have the same wrougt iron candelabra which I use every year, I like to see tghe other beautiful solutions...
This year, I have seven different ones which stole my heart - from the traditional hanging version to the upcycled and reclaimed version.
______________________________________________________________

Even though this is more decor and not an Advent wreath, I really liked this simple idea of using your candle holders for the tree on large jugs and bottles. I like when you get ideas to use somethings in more ways / Selvom det ikke helt er advents-agtigt, så kan jeg virkelig godt lide denne enkle idé om, at bruge juletræslyseholderne på fine flasker. Så kan de jo faktisk bruges altid.
Bidding Nature welcome inside / Byder Moder Jord og naturen indenfor
If you are no fan of evergreen and the more Christmas-y feel then this more etheral version would be something. Looks like angel wings and halos which is somewhat also going with the season depending on your personal beliefs.
If you haven't got tea light holders - use small glasses and tie them safely into the wreath!
My favourite of them all - a log from a birch tree and drill holes into it to place the candles.
If you are not in the handmade mood every year, a good idea would be to find a candlabra with room for four candles and then you can 'dress it up' according to fashion and flair, and you can even keep it out all year round / Hvis man ikke er typen, som gider at lave en krans hvert år, ville det måske være en idé at prøve at finde en lysestage med plads til fire lys, som så kan pyntes på ny hvert år efter hvad moden diktere eller noget helt andet.
A really fun and surpricing wreath was this upcycled lamp shade covered with moss and ornaments with just those clip-on candle holders on top/ En virkelig sjov adventskrans er denne pyntede lampeskærmsramme med mos og julepynt. Smart med de der clips-lyseholdere.

*Happy Place*

Things are a bit shaky today. Somehow I am finding myself in the middle of something which doesn't make sense - at least not to me. Therefore, I am in the need of comfort - and what is better than dreaming of my future home?
A warm rustic kitchen with colourful tiles and oils; a soothing bedroom; a clean and crisp bathroom; art, antiques, and books everywhere...
Today, these rooms are my 'happy place'.
_______________________________________________________________

2 Years Old!

Yep, today The Dandelion Chronicles turns 2! Amazing and unbelivable at the same time. Seems like yesterday I put up my first post and I dread if actual children's birthdays come as quickly. Too soon!
Nevertheless, a little celebration is in order and I will show some of my favourite things from some of the scans I did a while back.
They all sum up the colourful and vibrant world here on the vast Internet-land as well as the joys of tea and cakes with a hint of self-indulging.

I hope I get to see lots of you guys in the year to come... I will try to avoid any toddler tantrums!
_________________________________________________

Ja, The Dandelion Chronicles bliver 2 år i dag!

Hi guys... Once again the end of a month is upon us (How is it possible already!?) and I have my favourites from the past month's new arrivals. And what a glorious month October has been for that! I mean, look at those Fendi boots... Insane! And even though Hell would have to freeze over for me to pay €1600 for jeans, those Gucci ones with embroidery are quite spectacular.
I am definetely feeling in the mood for some sparkles to brighten up November. I have always hated that month - too dark, too cold, too boring... However, in this coat by Duro Olowu, I would be able to make the best of it until December.

So, does anything strike your fancy?

______________________________________

Hejsa..

To my dear Danish readers...

Just a small question to my Danish readers, so don't worry international ones!

{Sonnet Sunday} Shakespeare XVIII

{my Moleskine}

The most famous sonnet by Shakespeare of them all. I am not sure whether I think it is the best though. However, it is pretty neat and as the hopeless romantic that I am, I would die if someone would write that to me... Not that it is anything close to that ever happening, ha!

From time to time, I try to memorize this so I can recite it by heart whenever I feel like the world needs a little grandeur literary life. Not to anyone but just to myself whenever I feel the world to be too brutal and in need of some grace. One could perhaps call it my First Aid kit to literature in the everyday life.

Do you have a quote, poem, or something you cherish or memorize whenever you feel the world to be too much?

{Fashion Fix} Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

The sneakpeaks from the lookbook are fast making their rounds on various fashion sites, and I will admit I was at first baffled by the news of this upcoming collaboration. To me it was probably the least likely scenario in fashion collaborations ever!

And yet, here I am thinking - this is awesome! Brave, sophisticated, minimalistic, edgy, and smart. Granted, some styles are definetely not my 'cup of tea' but I really applaud both MMM and H&M for coming up with a collection embodying the best of both worlds, and I really love that a much less commercially known brand will be featured in this way. I was excited about how the avantgarde style of MMM would be created for the mass market.

Surpricingly, I really like a lot of the styles.. Usually, MMM is not really my thing but perhaps because the avantgarde is toned down and become more 'wearable' it gets me? Nevertheless, who cares what I think? Let's see some of the pictures... Here's my favourites (about half of the collection) from the upcoming Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collaboration. It is expected to hit certain stores and hm.com November 15th.
I really like this bag and a nice oversized sweater in navy will always have my name on it..
Probably not a dress or set (I cannot tell exactly which it is) I will buy but the shoes!!!!
I like this oversized blazer/coat.. This will be something I hope to get a chance to see up close.
Again, probably not one of the things I would buy but I really like it nevertheless. Also the boots and the necklace are quite gorgeous.
I do hope that's a necklace!!! And if only this sweater dress was shorter...
Interesting take on the classic white shirt. Excited to see this up close..
Beautiful jacket; classic and modern at the same time.
Be still my beating heart! This is beyond perfection.. Wuaw!

So, any cravings already or are you saying 'pass' on this colab??
