{Happy Birthday to me!}

Or, should I say "Happy Cinnamon"!?

Yes, you read correctly, I am referring to the lovely spice we use in bulks at Christmas. Reason? Apparently, when you turn 25 (which I am - surprice!) you get cinnamon if you are not married (which I am not). And I have no idea why. In addition, it appears to be a fairly recent tradition in East Jutland because not all of Denmark knows about this tradition. I don't even recall my siblings getting cinnamon when they turned 25 (they are 11, 12, and 13 years older than me).

For many many years (since the 1500s), it has been a tradition throughout Denmark to mark the 30th birthday with pepper, because the Danish words for spinster and bachelor contain the word pepper in them: pebermø (literally: pepper maiden) and pebersvend (pepper apprentice).
And if you google the two Danish words you see some examples of what might happen to you if you have very evil friends and family!
God, I hope I am married before 30! Or perhaps counting on my friends and family will be as low-key as with the cinnamon.
I just got a nice bunch of cinnamon buns and my presents had sticks of cinnamon wrapped with the ribbons.

So in honour of myself and the fact that I have existed for 25 years, I give you various pictures of flags and cinnamon.
Enjoy!

Hi guys!

Whoa this month went by like a lightning.. No, seriously! How can it already be my BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!? Crazy...
I don't know whether it is because I'm getting older (turning 25 so I'm basically from the Stone Age) but I only remember my birthday because of other people and my calendar. Usually, I would have stomach aches and trouble sleeping weeks before my birthday. This year - nothing.

Nevertheless, this post was about fashion! I really had trouble deciding which item I'd most like to own. But I think, I managed to get it down to the Paul & Joe-dress, with the KORS Michael Kors wedges as a close second.
But don't you just LOVE the bikini? I don't really think I would ever actually wear one but this is just so pretty. The scallops, the bow-ish front - lovely. And on the other weather-side, the coat is pretty amazing too..
I am already looking forward to the fall clothes.. Kinda sad really since we only have had about 5 days of summer - at the most!
If I didn't love rain so much, it would be very depressing.

Misce-nail-ious

Well, the pictures say it all. Taking the opportunity of the sunny weather and sporting some different shades on my nails.
If you have questions regarding one of the colours or designs just send an ask.
Oh yeah, and there's a photo of my feet - just in case you have something against feet in general!

{Inspired by Green}

For the past three days, I have been busy going through my vast collection of cut-outs which I have accumulated through the years. Now since I both have my blog here and a tumblr, as well as Pinterest, I though it was time to scan most of them and upload them in stead of having them taking up physical space in my apartment.
So braise yourselves, because once in a while it will probably feel like a regular spamming session from me with images. However, due to my past not-so-organized self, many of the scans will not be credited.

However, today it will not be all just my scans but the post was inspired by one though. A close-up scan of a Givenchy or Balmain dress from some years ago now (looking through all of my scans really made me realize how fast time goes - especially in fashion land). And since, I always thought it to be a most stunning green, green is today's colour and inspiration.

Enjoy!

 A leaf in a microscope - I love the small happy faces!
 You can buy an excact replica of Kiera Knightley's green dress from Atonement. I'm tempted!

{Sonnet Sunday} Shakespeare No. XIV

{my Moleskine scan}

Just finished some new pages in my Moleskine. The weather isn't really sunny summer so I'm spending my time gathering inspiration for various art projects and searching for literature for my MA thesis.
Other than that I am trying to plan my joined birthday celebration with my Mother (we have our birthdays ten days apart). We are just going with the low key and casual despite me turning 25 (!!!!) and here in Denmark that means A LOT of cinnamon if you are unwed.. But this tradition, I will tell you more about later..

{Chanel Haute Couture}

Some beautiful photos of the devine collection fra Chanel. Granted, there were a few pieces which were off key in my opinion, but overall the standard was very high. I love the palette of pale pink, grey, and black. Especially the dress just below is my favourite look - I just wish it was full length!!

How wonderful it must be to see these works of art up close, and to study the embroidery and feather details. I get easily fed up with the looks par se but I admire the craftsmanship anyday - even with the looks I am initially less keen on. I still don't understand the wing-trend going on at Chanel (like the photo above). Nevertheless, I am sure they look faboulous up close.

Well, there isn't really much to say about this, except that it is a very beautiful and cohesive collection, and I will start sporting the palette, and perhaps embellish a beanie!
