{Fashion Fix} Happy Colours

Dreaming myself away to fields of flowers and warmer weather. My heart is bubbling by the thought of all the flowers awakening under ground.
Some of the styles this spring just make me happy and all giddy! Enough with the black and secure, let's have some fun...

Fashion Fix: Dior's New Look 1947

Pinned Image
One of my favourite designs and looks in the eternal history of fashion and style is Christian Dior's Bar suit from the New Look collection in 1947.
To me, it is the epitome of elegance and shape-wise it is my go-to style for when in doubt of what to wear.
Either pairing a flared or pleated black or marine blue skirt with white or cream shirts or making a bit more edgy by adding a white t-shirt. The importance is in the skirt's lines and the monochrome colours.
I am on the hunt for the perfect white or cream coloured blazer or jacket to go with my black skirt from Asos, in order to fulfill my own New Look. But my heart does have a soft spot for the late 1940s fashions, again tailoring and draping catches my eye.

{Fashion Fix} Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

The sneakpeaks from the lookbook are fast making their rounds on various fashion sites, and I will admit I was at first baffled by the news of this upcoming collaboration. To me it was probably the least likely scenario in fashion collaborations ever!

And yet, here I am thinking - this is awesome! Brave, sophisticated, minimalistic, edgy, and smart. Granted, some styles are definetely not my 'cup of tea' but I really applaud both MMM and H&M for coming up with a collection embodying the best of both worlds, and I really love that a much less commercially known brand will be featured in this way. I was excited about how the avantgarde style of MMM would be created for the mass market.

Surpricingly, I really like a lot of the styles.. Usually, MMM is not really my thing but perhaps because the avantgarde is toned down and become more 'wearable' it gets me? Nevertheless, who cares what I think? Let's see some of the pictures... Here's my favourites (about half of the collection) from the upcoming Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collaboration. It is expected to hit certain stores and hm.com November 15th.
I really like this bag and a nice oversized sweater in navy will always have my name on it..
Probably not a dress or set (I cannot tell exactly which it is) I will buy but the shoes!!!!
I like this oversized blazer/coat.. This will be something I hope to get a chance to see up close.
Again, probably not one of the things I would buy but I really like it nevertheless. Also the boots and the necklace are quite gorgeous.
I do hope that's a necklace!!! And if only this sweater dress was shorter...
Interesting take on the classic white shirt. Excited to see this up close..
Beautiful jacket; classic and modern at the same time.
Be still my beating heart! This is beyond perfection.. Wuaw!

So, any cravings already or are you saying 'pass' on this colab??

Fashion Fix: Carey Mulligan's costume in The Great Gatsby

I know it has only been seconds since my Weekly Favourites post and wish for a good weekend but then I saw this in my news feed, and.... I'm in love! With everything.. I can't even decide which guy I have a cruch on the most, Tobey in his green cardigan or Leo in his dapper white suit.. And off course, you cannot help but love Carey and her infectious smile.

Oh, and do note the two-toned stockings she is wearing!

Fashion Fix: My Wonderful World of Fashion

Do you know these books? They are super adorable and just by the thumb nails {such a TEASE, Laurence King!} I want them all!
I like the naive style and playful tone, and would probably be lost for hours in these. My biggest concern would be if I really dared to colour them or whether I should just keep them au naturel...

The colouring books are £12.95 each and the postcard book is £6.95. {first} {second} {postcard}

The first two slides are from the first colouring book My Wonderful World of Fashion and the last three are from My Even More Wonderful World of Fashion. Both by Nina Chakrabarti at LaurenceKing.com

Fashion Fix: Petite Holly Golightly

This is just way too cute to ignore.. Maybe I should make this now so it would be ready for whenever I have a daughter?
Maybe I should just do it for myself...

Fashion Fix: Marilyn's White Dress

Anyone got about $2 million to splurge? Then I think you should use it on Marilyn Monroe's white dress from Seven Year Itch..
Debbie Reynolds is selling her collection of film memorabilia including awesome costumes from My Fair Lady, Sound of Music, Hello Dolly and Seven Year Itch among others.. Now wouldn't that be the perfect way to celebrate Marilyn's 85th birthday yesterday? {Daily Mail}

I would love to own a costume collection like Debbie Reynold's with film costumes and fashion history items side by side. What items would you include in a collection if you could choose freely? Me? I would get a Fortuny dress, YSL's first dress for Dior and Marilyn's pink dress from How to Marry A Millionaire. Now that would be a perfect start..

[Edit] The dress sold for $4.6 million! And almost all of the costumes went far beyond their estimate. Congrats to Debbie Reynolds and the buyers, I hope they will take good care of these iconic costumes and memorabilias.

Fashion Fix: Chanel Fall Nail Polishes

Just saw these on Fashionista's homepage, and my my my, they look gorgeous - AGAIN!!!
How is it possible to trigger my lust for these things so easily?
So the question is, which one are you going to chick-fight for? I think, I'm going for the bottom one called 'Peridot'. It looks like a very nice gold with a little green in it.. Oh well, I did save money on buying that GOSH nail polish that looks so like this summer's Chanel Mimosa, so perhaps its okay to buy Peridot when it gets to Denmark some time in November/December. Just in time for Christmas!

Fashion Fix: Bayswater Metallic Gold

I'm in love with this bag! I can't even express how much I want it, and sure wish I had a job besides my scholarship and student loan. I would eat rice or pasta for four months if it meant I could have this.. And I'm the type of girl who would and could wear it on an everyday basis.
Just imagine how awesome it would be to stroll around town on a cloudy Tuesday morning with this!!
Want want want..
I saw it in the Mulberry shop in Aarhus and it was love at first sight. They had even accessorized it with a small matching bag you could clip on and off and use as the perfect bag for a night out. Just for your keys, phone and credit card.
Love love love...

Weekly Favourites week 16

Having all of our grown up princes already married off, we in Denmark are a bit over the wedding hysteria.. Nevertheless, we can always cheer for fancy dresses and big hats - really something we should incorporate more in my opinion!
Therefore, this week's favourites has hats and gowns along with a little something on the side for those lay-low days post-wedding. Can you picture one of the ladies wearing the jumpsuit with the Philip Tracy hat!? Awesome!!!
I'd be wearing the Rodarte wedges (how amazing are they???) with the little white dress for a nice post-wedding lunch.. Or perhaps enjoy the incredible summer weather here in Aarhus (20-22 degrees! In April!?) with the awesomely cute scallop bikini. I have just taken my first run this morning so maybe I'll be fit for bikini season this year..

Weekly Favourites week 15

Nothing to cheer you up than a bit of imaginary shopping!! Been a bit blue today, perhaps a late reaction to the great time I had yesterday evening celebrating my friend's birthday and dining out and everything.. So much fun and she loved the presents.
But I did find some AMAZING dresses (again!) this week. Seriously, do the designers read my mind?! I can't even pick a favourite among them but if I actually had to buy one I'd go for the Proenza Schouler or the One Vintage (green) ones. However, doesn't the Marchesa gown look stunning? I'd wear it for the royal wedding if I had an invite.. Well, we can all dream and dreams are what is making us go beyond our beliefs and achieving success. And I'm all in for that!
Enjoy, and a lovely weekend to you all..

Weekly Favourites week 12

As always, loads of dresses!!! I simply cannot stop wanting more and more of those effortless garments. I always need to plan thoroughly if I'm wearing trousers; what goes with it in shoes, tops, coats etc...? So much easier with dresses. I will always be a girly girl, I guess, and you know what? I'm fine with that! :) Have a lovely weekend..

Art Deco-inspired Weddings Gowns

Through Stumbleupon, I just found these beautiful wedding gowns by Yolan Chris at Wedding Inspirasi. I like to take a look at wedding websites; they offer a ton of beautiful and inspirational images to kick start your next party (even though it doesn't have to be a wedding) or drawings. Sometimes I wonder why I don't just take the plunge and start to design wedding dresses because I have done that all my life anyway.
Anyways, here's one who has. The dresses by Yolan Chris are simply stunning in their quite simplistic silhuette but the beading and the details are exquisite when you take a closer look. If I'm ever to marry, I would love to wear something in the lines of these.
Oh, and I ADORE the hats and veils... and the readhead!! My personal favourites among these are no. 2 and 4.
