Denim Accents

This spread is from an old Danish fashion magazine, Costume. Well, 'old' is probably rather big, however, in fashion life, 2005 is almost a million years ago. Nevertheless, I enjoy looking through my old magazines and either discover stuff I would hate to admit that I wore, or things that are surpricingly stylish yet or on the verge of becoming again. (Have you seen the scarf-hem skirts and dresses popping up? So 90s!!!!)

I fell for this spread's etheral look paired with the denim, and I think you could easily pull these looks off today without both eyebrows raised at you. Perhaps this is because of the denim. So wardrobe essential amd classic that almost anything with this fabric goes.
I used to not be a denim-loving girl, however, since I have lost some weight (much needed!) I have rekindled my relationship with it, and have discovered the love for straight jeans. My biggest problem though is the gap between my back and the denim. I always have to take in an inch after a while, but I cannot buy a smaller size due to my thighs. Anyone familiar with this hazzle? So I am not yet ready to spend big bucks on jeans until I have discovered a brand or style that can avoid this (or at least minimize drastically).

Have you any personal favourite pairing with denim? Need to dress it up with sparkles? Plain tees? Blazers?
What do you think of these suggestions?

CPH Fashion Week: Rützou AW12

My four favourite looks from one of my favourite Danish fashion brands, Rützou. The simplicity and elegance of the navy silk suit is beyond words for me. I am also hoping that the necklace will be put into production and not just a showpiece. (I hate that!)
I may also consider opting for a new coat when this collection hits stores. I really like the flowers applications at the collar.

Inspired by Mint Blue

Browsing throught the vast endlessness of Pinterest, I discovered this outfit and completely fell in love with the fresh and crisp feel it envoked in me. Today has just been a dull, grey, and eventless day so I will just share some of the images that also reached my eye after being hit with a dash of mint. Enjoy...

Winter Wedding from BHLDN

This wedding gown from BHLDN is truly amazing. If I was to be married this winter this would be my dress..
I love the etheral feel and the slight scatter of glitter. I always cheer when an Edwardian vibe is in vogue.

Though I will use my grand parents' wedding day for my own wedding {June 25th} I prefer the look and style of the weddings set during the Fall and Winter. They always remind me of elves dancing in the woods of the Snow Queen {references to two of my favourite HC Andersen fairy tales} and the feel is always more intimate. Close in to keep the cold away, sort of..

The styling of these gowns are equally amazing, as with basically all BHLDN productions. I adore the blueish tones and the falling snow.
Add deep red lips and nails, and a bouquet of anemones and baby's breath and I would be set.

For hair, I would choose a gently tucked up-do, not too prim  {possible like a 'Gibson Tuck'} and with either a gilded halo or a white fox hat Elizabeth Taylor-style.

The shoes would be either glass slippers or rococo brocade heels. The perfect mix of Marie Antoinette and The Snow Queen.

Weekly Favourites 42

Weekly Favourites 42, 2011

Once again, TGIF as the hipsters say and thus the Weekly Favourites by yours truly!
This Friday, its all about the blues and burnt colours. There are some gorgeous Carolina Herrera-dresses and suits over at The Outnet and at Asos they have the cool holgraphic top coat by Nails INC. as well as the Christmas collection by Paul & Joe. I can't pick just one so I included them all!
Oh, and how sweet are the fleur-de-lis flats? Or the Louboutin ones? Simply cannot decide... My imaginary closet is fastly expanding!

Hope you like them and perhaps even get a little inspired.

Have a great weekend!

Weekly Favourites 40

Oh well, the weekend has passed way too quickly. And the Fall has come with all the beautiful colours and fuzzy coats.
I have always loved the Fall, despite the rain. Or maybe because of the rain.
The gentle tampering of drops at your window, like knocks from outside. The promise of after a Spring, a Summer and Fall will come, and after the death-like Winter, Spring and prospect will come anew.

This week, I have fallen for the rain. The blue-ish colours, the gentle sparkles, and dark clouds.
I always feel cheered up by pink, but the blues somehow always describe my state of mind, whether they be dark and moody, or soft and promising like a Summer's sky.

I think my eyes look like the rain - they change colour depending on the season and the setting, like the rain.
Perhaps that's why I think they are my best feature.
