One of our most succesful designers is without a doubt Malene Birger. Her lady like dresses with bold colours which is wearable on a daily basis is a huge hit among most Danish - and international - women. Next summer will celebrate the label's 10 year anniversary and the new collection is a perfect celebration! Silk prints, glitter, glamour, and style all is one.

The Danish fashion hob-nobbers are already fighting over the long printed skirts featured in the last photo. It is a pity I couldn't find a photo of all the skirts in the finale, bit I loved how they were just paired with a simple white tee - Brandon Walsh-style... 

 I really like this coat but I fear it will be out of my prize range when it hits stores in the spring.

 Adore these trousers... And I cannot for my life pick which one I like the best!

 I have sort of decided that if I get a double-digit grade for my dissertation in the spring, then the orange heels will be mine! I L.O.V.E. them...

And the gorgeous full length printed silk skirts. You can just get a hint of the other skirts behind the front one. Basically, it was all of the fabrics from the rest of the collection. This will definately be a coveted look in ALL of the magazines next year. Maybe even from the November issue this year?

{CFW SS13} Anne Sofie Madsen

This past weekend, Copenhagen hosted the Danish fashion week with delightful dreams of next summer. So prepare for a little Danish fashion-spamming from me and I promise it will not be a hazzle!

Anne Sofie Madsen had her debut show only last year, and yet her collection this year was the best in my opinion. The colour cheme, the craftsmanship (I hope the photos do them justice), and the details... So wonderful and inspiring. I loved basically all of her looks even though they are not really my style. And that happening is like discovering a lake in Sahara!

But you can see why below...

 I really think I cannot live without this skirt! There's a little bit of glitter in it, and it was just wonderful on the runway video.

 The same goes for this dress. If I cannot have it then I really hope it will make its rounds on the various red carpets here in Denmark.. Just amazing details.

 I predict this look to be the most sold dress in the collection. It sort of just epitomizes the Danish fashion vibe at the moment, and I doubt that next summer will be any different. I am not sure whether it is Anne Sofie Madsen's own drawing or a collab with an artist. But so wearable and beautiful.

 I am picturing various Danish electronica-artists in this... Quite exited to see if I will be right.

{Sonnet Sunday: Shakespeare XVI}

Today it is a nice warm sun shining down on us. On this day last year, the rays of the sun burst through the windows at the church when the organ started at my father's funeral. It was like my father said that it was all okay now.

Today I start to think so too.

Time and timelessness is a curious thing. On Sunday it is 50 years ago that Marilyn Monroe died. She has a long time ago entered the realm of myths and legends, so much that sometimes you kind of forget that she was a real breathing person. Even her sorrows and lows in her short life don't change that fact but even enhance her mythical status. I always find it slightly weird that my grandparents saw pictures of her in magazines and her pictures in the cinema when her movies was new and not-yet classics.

For a lifetime she has been gone, and most people just know the photos of the smiling blonde with the sexy walk at best. I have never thought that those studio-photos did her any justice. They were all too polished (my views are the same with today's over-retouched images) and never let her character shine through.

We will probably never know for sure whether her death was murder, accident, or suicide. However, I can't say that I don't understand her if it was the latter. No person can live up to a living legend-persona without problems at some point.

Last year (I think) a book with a collection of her diaries and notes was published, and fittingly called Fragments. The fragments until then had been the photos, films, biographies en masse, and other quite one-sided views about her. Now we had a small glimpse into her mind.

I guess we will always wonder what could have happened if a too-young artist had not died, the same goes for Jimi Hendrix, Amy Winehouse, James Dean, Boddy Holly, John Lennon etc. Would Marilyn have embraced her aging, become braver or more difficult, married, had children? 

Could it have been possible for Marilyn to be happy? 

From what we know, it seems like she was too fragile and that her life was a candle burning brighter than all the rest - and twice as fast.

Perhaps she knew in a way that her life would be rather short. The continiously growing collection of pictures of her is a rather startling contrast to her short career (I don't really think 14 years is that long). I keep seeing 'new' pictures of her. It is like they compensate for her non-physical appearance, like statues of godesses scattered around old empires.

I have always loved her Vogue-sitting from 1962 photographed by Bert Stern. Especially the images of her more contemplating looks. Her maturity and innocence is captured just perfectly here, and I find that a worthy way of remembering her. I hope that she agrees.

{Happy Birthday to me!}

Or, should I say "Happy Cinnamon"!?

Yes, you read correctly, I am referring to the lovely spice we use in bulks at Christmas. Reason? Apparently, when you turn 25 (which I am - surprice!) you get cinnamon if you are not married (which I am not). And I have no idea why. In addition, it appears to be a fairly recent tradition in East Jutland because not all of Denmark knows about this tradition. I don't even recall my siblings getting cinnamon when they turned 25 (they are 11, 12, and 13 years older than me).

For many many years (since the 1500s), it has been a tradition throughout Denmark to mark the 30th birthday with pepper, because the Danish words for spinster and bachelor contain the word pepper in them: pebermø (literally: pepper maiden) and pebersvend (pepper apprentice).

And if you google the two Danish words you see some examples of what might happen to you if you have very evil friends and family!

God, I hope I am married before 30! Or perhaps counting on my friends and family will be as low-key as with the cinnamon.

I just got a nice bunch of cinnamon buns and my presents had sticks of cinnamon wrapped with the ribbons.

So in honour of myself and the fact that I have existed for 25 years, I give you various pictures of flags and cinnamon.

Hi guys!

Whoa this month went by like a lightning.. No, seriously! How can it already be my BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!? Crazy...

I don't know whether it is because I'm getting older (turning 25 so I'm basically from the Stone Age) but I only remember my birthday because of other people and my calendar. Usually, I would have stomach aches and trouble sleeping weeks before my birthday. This year - nothing.

Nevertheless, this post was about fashion! I really had trouble deciding which item I'd most like to own. But I think, I managed to get it down to the Paul & Joe-dress, with the KORS Michael Kors wedges as a close second.

But don't you just LOVE the bikini? I don't really think I would ever actually wear one but this is just so pretty. The scallops, the bow-ish front - lovely. And on the other weather-side, the coat is pretty amazing too..

I am already looking forward to the fall clothes.. Kinda sad really since we only have had about 5 days of summer - at the most!

If I didn't love rain so much, it would be very depressing.
