Weekly Favourites week 14

Mmm.. Can you feel it? Spring time and that means wedding season! An overflow of beautiful gowns and dreams of flowers and tears to be shed. And these are the perfect dresses from the formal posh wedding to the down to earth reception. Love love love..
The seperates and accessories speak of travels to come and the 'bare neccessities' in stylish living. I cannot for my life choose just one of these amazing bags! All of them super stylish and workable due to their size. And those wedges!!! I don't even have words for my love for them.. Just look and swoon..

Do not flee from here...

... Its a flee market!
I love flee markets as most people do. All the gold and the brass in one big scoop and the potential life changing loves that could enter your home and bring out a smile and a story whenever you see them.
The first and third Sunday, there's a flee market on Ingerslev Boulevard which also graces the farmers' markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and just around the corner from me! The flee market is on from April 'till September and there is always a huge crowd of scanners, students, haters (even they can't stay away!), and pros. All in one big jar of goodies and rubbish to go through.
I visited this Sunday, and boy was I lucky or what? I have found a new love.. but I'll show you later.. First, here's some detail snaps from the day. I couldn't get a decent photo of several booths due to the crowd. Nevertheless, I am on a non-spending mission for a year which so far has been very eye-opening to me but it had to fail this Sunday because of my new love. However, I am still somewhat focused of not buying too much rubbish so there was some gems that I volantarily let go and just took a nice picture of in stead. And I'm quite proud of myself for that!
Those Dalarna horses with blue fluted print! That was a tough one to let go - I didn't even ask the price because I knew that I would have bought them right away almost no matter what the tag was.. Standing strong - so far!
A very cute Betty Boop clock and loads of mini-perfumes and salt'n'pepper sets.
Blue glass, the perfect gift for my Mum, and blue fluted china.
Next to Royal Copenhagen's services I love these old pieces with gold trims and painted flowers. So whimsical and almost ugly that you have got to love it! I'm sometimes attracted to the slightly grotesque and in my book these things come close to that category. No offence!
I like ships. On mantels, on shelves, on tables, on display and in the horizon. However, in order to take part in a voyage I will have to eat constantly in order not to get sea sick. A real bummer since I love the ocean and in my head I would love to be a sailor but my body and my past experiences disagree..
Pippi!!! Yay, I loved her as a child and still do. The holidays in Denmark seem slightly odd if there's no Astrid Lindgren-adaptations on the TV, even though she was Swedish! I always identified more with Ronja than Pippi. However, Pippi did have a pirate as her father, so there's the sailing dreams again..
A tin box with The Queen of Flavigny (apparently..) and just imagine if you could set a table filled with different coloured glasses like these! Love!
Blue fluted, JFK and Jackie, and odd bits and pretties.. The whole palette of colours just speaks to something deep inside of me. It was probably the stand where I stayed the longest browsing.
And then I saw this...
And now it looks like this...
Yeah, terrible photo, I know, however, my room was quite cluttered and I tried to avoid the reflection giving that away..
This is my new love. I almost cried when I saw it at the flee market and in my opinion it was dirt cheap. There's even a little stool along with it but I need to repolster it beacuse the fabric was shattered. And the best thing? Rose-tinted glass!!! I didn't even realize that at first due to my rose coloured trenchcoat I was wearing. But I am so happy, and smile every time I pass it and its one of the first things I see when I wake up.

So there you go. My reason (a good one, I think) for slipping my New Year's resolution.. I can't stop smiling!

Parisian Vibes

On Saturday, I was in great spirits and after the lovely farmers' market on Ingerslev Blvd (see yesterday's post) I decided to explore the neighbourhood. I still have to extend my comfort zone around my flat but I guess that will come more and more this spring and summer. Anyways, I played around with my camera and suddenly found myself looking more or less at Paris if I tuned it to sepia! Awesome! And I remembered seeing somewhere a blog-post that said "Take a bad picture in sepia or b/w and add a quote in helvetica - that's a bloghit." Awesomeness incarnated!

So here's some snaps from Odensegade and the area around Sct. Paul's Church in Aarhus but without quotes in helvetica.. Enjoy..

Odensegade looking down at Skt. Pauls Kirkeplads (Sct Paul's)
Pretty historicist-style windows and door frames in the following pictures.
The little park just behind Sct Paul's. Lovely in the summer and early fall with the trees going bananas with colours..
A pretty building on the corner of Hans Broges Gade, Skt Pauls Kirkeplads and Odensegade.
Pretty windows. I always find the top windows the prettiest from the outside, however, chances are huge that there's no lift in the building and I think I counted five stories.. That's a work-out!
Three dogs playing with their owners (SO CUTE!!!!) in the park at Marselisborg Allé just down from Odensegade.
Sct. Paul's from the front. Very Romanesque but much later.. The church is not following the traditional orientation with the entrance portal being faced West, here's its faced North due to the traffic. The Church is so recent that they had to construct it around the already existing streets in order to get the permission. But it looks quite nice when you are coming from down town and going uphill to Frederiksbjerg (the area of all the pictures I have shown). It sort of greets you, I think.

Well, anyway, this was just some silly shots from a lazy Saturday with a little Parisian vibe (at least to me)..

Spring Awakening

I have been a little blue lately due to some major stuff going on in my life, however, I really feel like I have started to percieve what I want to do with my life and where I want to go. The road to take - following the thread from my last couple of posts. Hence, I have had a wonderful weekend; sunny, bright, happy, optimistic, the lot! I'm still filled with questions but now they are changing more from "What?" to "How?" and I really like the effect of looking through rose-tinted glasses for the first time since, well.. forever, almost. I'm starting to believe in the future again and that I have something great in store and now I want to learn how to grasp the opportunities coming my way.

On Saturdays, there's a farmer's market on Ingerslev Boulevard and I always love to walk around the booths booming with fruits, vegetables, and especially flowers. It feels like half the market consists of flowers, not that I mind at all.. At the moment, violets, hortencias, tulips, and anemones are whats offered the most and the smells are just lovely, even mixed with the ones from the cheese and fish stands!
There's always a huge crowd if its sunny, and the market is on every Wednesday and Saturday the whole year. The most popular non-flower stands are the cheese-wagon, the coffee and Danish pastry stand and the fishermen's stand where they sell hot fish balls and pan fried fish fillets 'to go' - yummy!! I would have taken a photo of them but I was hungry, so you'll have to take my word for the delishiousness! Mouth watering indeed..
Here's some snaps from the market, enjoy!
Italian style icecream and organic flour and baking products.
Tete-a-tetes are also quite popular at the moment - at least according to the florists.
One cheese-wagon and boxes with herbs. The smell was incredible just there! Even with the cheese..
Funny cotton-like flowers. Perhaps they are called something like 'Rabbit's Ear' in Danish but I'm not completely sure its these ones. But pretty..
The Cheese-wagon! My favourite of them all.. If you are not sure what kind of cheese you want you can taste samples until you finde The One! Love!
Pretty flowers from the market. However, this photo was from the fall last year, just didn't get around posting about the market back then.
Pretty, pretty, pretty..

Weekly Favourites week 13

First of all, thank you for your kind comments. It really warms my heart during these rather blue and overwhelming days. This blog sure is a means to find the beauty in the details and everyday life, so I'll definately try my best to continue. And my gut feeling is always right, I know that, I guess I've just ignored it too long. However, it is hard to always be the one who breaks the patterns and the vicious circles but some things (good things!) are in motion, baby steps, but I'm taking action..
Therefore, I really took joy in moving around the gorgeous fashion sites and online stores today. This week, it is all about the accessories. I guess the theme with the details goes on here as well :) And I've included some finds from online vintage stores as well.

Have a warm and sunny weekend..

Just around the Riverbend

I find myself at a crossroad these days, and the fear of turning either way almost overcomes me. I'm surrounded by highways and have lived on one for so long that I cannot remember what it was like to make turns and even head turns at one's whim.
Everything about choosing your path seems to come to my attention easily at the moment, and I can easily think of some ways it has occured in the past few days. Pocahontas' 'Down the Riverbend', the Cheshire Cat and Alice's conversation in 'Alice in Wonderland', and the poem by Robert Frost 'The Road Not Taken':

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

I'm afraid to get it wrong but I know that my current lack of action is just a waist and even worse. I can hear the dooming sounds whenever I try to make a decision. It is almost too life-changing to bear on my own shoulders alone. I need guidance but fail to know the source of it and where to seek. The time runs so fast and I'm not sure how to follow at this speed. The little white rabbit runs around me with his clock and frantically shows it to me while mumbling, 'We're gonna be too late..' over and over. My heart trembles and my body is paralysed. What am I too late for? I feel like I'm going to be too late, but I don't know for what and I want to hold the little rabbit tight and shake him untill he tells me..
'Tik tok tik toc', is all I hear..

Rococo Beauty

After spending most of the day with my lovely older sister, I'm all about focusing on the beauty of the world (considering my last post). I'm currently reading Per Olov Enquist's novel 'The Visit of the Physician' about mad-king Christian VII, his ill-fated queen Caroline Mathilde and her lover and a would-be reformist Struuense. Based on true history its quite thought provoking to read and wonder what could have happened if Struuense didn't have such strong opponents. However, I'm always one for a bit of rococo fashion and interior (my truly favourite period ever!) and wanna share a little here.
I hope you all notice the little everyday wonders and beauties even in the darkest places.
